Tonami Tulip Fair砺波

3 million tulips in 300+ varieties in bloom simultaneously across the park. Classic solid reds, yellows, whites; multi-coloured frilled varieties; parrot tulips, lily-flowered, and double varieties. Design gardens with ground-level patterns viewable from above. Water features with tulips reflected in them. A windmill + Dutch-style garden as a nod to tulip history.

Climb the tower for the classic photo of the entire tulip field with the snow-capped Tateyama range on the horizon. The design-garden patterns visible from above are the festival’s photographic signature, they don’t read at ground level.

The Dutch-style garden with windmill anchors the western end of the park; food stalls and souvenir vendors line the central path during the festival.

If you miss the April fair, the Tulip Gallery keeps tulips in bloom year-round in climate-controlled greenhouses. Constantly blooming displays in multiple rooms, seasonal themed arrangements, educational exhibits on tulip cultivation in Japan, and a small café.

A traditional wood-carving town with active craft studios. The Zuisen-ji Temple features some of Japan’s finest Inami woodcarving in its Sanmon Gate and buildings. Yokamachi Street is a cobblestoned street lined with crafting studios, listen for the rhythmic sound of mallets as you walk.
