Oct–NovFour days of unreserved Shinkansen hops between Tsuruga, Fukui, Kanazawa, Toyama and Kurobe-Unazukionsen, with the Echizen Railway and the Toyama trams thrown in. For travellers who have already arrived and want to move around.
Buy it if you sleep in Kanazawa or Toyama for four nights and take two or more Shinkansen day trips. ¥7,000 for 4 days, unreserved cars only, Tsuruga to Kurobe-Unazukionsen. A Kanazawa–Toyama return alone is ¥5,720 unreserved; add Fukui and the pass has paid for itself. It does not get you to Hokuriku from Tokyo or Kansai, and it never sits in a reserved seat.
What it is for: JR West sells this one for people who have already arrived. The Shinkansen takes 23 minutes Kanazawa–Toyama and about 25 minutes Kanazawa–Fukui, so one hotel can serve Fukui, Ishikawa and Toyama. Nobody arriving from Tokyo should buy it: the Hokuriku Shinkansen east of Kurobe-Unazukionsen is excluded, so treat it as a four-day add-on inside a longer trip.
From the JR West area map, checked 7 October 2026. The Shinkansen between Tsuruga and Kurobe-Unazukionsen, the JR branch lines off it and a few private lines.
Add the day trips you plan. This pass includes no seat reservations, so the fares here are unreserved ones, which is what it replaces. The reserved figures on our route pages are ¥530 higher per Shinkansen leg.
